Painting Workshop: JUST ONE COLOUR+

Painting Workshop: JUST ONE COLOUR+

March 28, 2026 | 9 am - 4 pm

Instructor: Andrea Mossop

That candy box temptation of all colour wheel hues!

What if you can only choose one?

Of course, in your paintbox one hue comes in many tubes of different pigments as in blue, red and yellow. If you choose green, orange or violet, a myriad of possibilities, from the tube or in the resulting mixology of your primaries, whites and darkening agents included, expands your palette.

In this one-day painting workshop, learn the art of restraint and discover the explosion of subtleties and nuance. Deep dive your colour stash exploring different pigments and a range of mixes in a narrowed colour field to create an image, subject of choice or abstracted, in just one colour ~ well, almost = 95% + what will your other colour be?

Learn how the phenomenon of the simultaneous contrast of colour finishes the expression of the painting in the viewer's eyes.

Study notes and links as well as materials list will be sent in advance of the workshop.

All levels of painters. Oil with acrylic underpainting or acrylic or other medium of choice.

Limited to 14 participants.

Note: If the workshop is full, please join the wait list.

No cancellations or refunds will be accepted within two weeks of the workshop date.

Painting Workshop: OPEN

OPEN - Painting Workshop with Andrea Mossop

Saturday, April 18, 2026 | 9 am - 4 pm

Instructor: Andrea Mossop

We think we know where we want our image to go.

What if we were to open a door to the unknown?

In this one-day painting/ media of choice workshop, rediscover the open process of play that brought you to your love of painting. Does your painting get stuck, feel constricted and shrink-wrapped with conformity, drained of fun?

Learn ways of keeping your painting fresh, working several images simultaneously to generate creative flow and possibility. Play with shock spots, elimination, exaggeration, intervention and unexpected colour contrasts creating new beginnings abstractly or with subject. Learn to field the whole using syncretistic vision.

Above all, surprise yourself and delight in the unexpected. Enjoy a day of painting in kindred company.

All levels. Media of choice - choice of any image making media or combination of media.

Study notes and links as well as materials list will be sent in advance of the workshop.

Limited to 14 participants

Note: If the workshop is full, please join the wait list.

No cancellations or refunds will be accepted within two weeks of the workshop date.
