Oil Painting in a New Age with Andrea Mossop - A series of 4 Wednesday mornings

A safe return to the exquisite beauty of traditional oil paint, this expressive and luminous medium finds its twenty-first century voice.  This series of 4 classes is for beginners looking for the ‘forgiving’ medium, and for advanced painters who are developing their own style of painting by expanding their skills and materials.  
This course encourages independent creativity while introducing body-friendly and environment-considerate practices of oil painting. Learn various techniques of the old masters and the moderns for inspired approaches to painting.
Through the student’s personal choice of subject, concept and presentation, the instructor will guide the individual’s process from vision to execution. A healthy studio practice will be taught; no solvents will be used, clean-up with soap and water. Underpainting may be done in watercolour pencil, watercolour or acrylic.

séan mccann + Jeremy Fisher: United in Song

Some friendships are forged on the road. Séan McCann and Jeremy Fisher met in the lounge of a dusty tour bus behind an arena in Sudbury. Within minutes, they had guitars in hand and began co-writing their first song together. Their last proper co-headline tour was in 2011. Now, in 2026 they're bringing it back together with United in Song; a revue of their best and most beloved music. Séan and Jeremy will step on stage at the same time, trading tunes and backing each other up. If you like acoustic guitars, Irish hand drums, tin whistles, big heartfelt singalongs, and good stories, this show is for you. 

United in Song is a deliberate act of joyful resistance. In a world increasingly mediated by screens, algorithms, and artificial intelligence, Séan and Jeremy are making the case — loudly, melodically, and with considerable charm — that one of the most life-affirming human experiences is when real artists, play real songs, for real people, in a real room.

Painting Turner's Magical Light with Andrea Mossop, Nov 21, 2026

In this workshop, create luminosity and mystery through the practice of layering. You will learn how to build strata of paint, alternating thick and thin, scraping, floating and glazing, balancing translucent and opaque for effects of glow and luminosity. Inspired by William Turner’s dashing and daring sky and weather-dominated landscapes, fresh and modern even to contemporary eyes, learn how Turner worked on site preparatory to the large work. Oil with acrylic underlayers or acrylic or watercolour. All levels.

The Festival of Small Halls Presents: The Maywoods are an Ottawa Valley-based quartet dedicated to honouring and performing the songs and music of legendary singer-songwriter John Prine. Formed in 2023, the band features Vicki Brittle, Tyler Craig, Nathan Sloniowski and Jessica Winskell. Youth Art NIGHT

Every first Monday evening of the month  from 6:00pm-7:30pm 

Lower hall of Arts Hub Brockville  - Please use the King St. Door

FREE! 

A non-judgemental space to explore art and express your creative side.

• Ages 10-35 

• All artistic levels welcome! 

• Work at own pace and interset 

• Period of instruction each night 

• Explore various mediums/medias/styles 

• Paint friendly attire encouraged.

• Materials provided, or bring your own project. 

• Refreshments provided.
