Donna McPhail
I have always been a bird lover, and I began painting them a few years ago. When I came across pictures of Ruff birds though, with their elaborate neck feathers and varied and weird head feathers, I thought of fashionable women with fur collars and fancy hats. I started to transform these male birds into well dressed and accessorized females.
My love of the natural environment is evident in my up close and detailed flower portraits which celebrate the colours and patterns found in nature. I am a big Georgia O’Keefe fan!
I work in acrylics.
I am a member of the Rideau Lakes Artists Association, the West Carleton Art Society, and the Kanata Civic Art Gallery. My paintings have hung at local venues and shows associated with these groups.
